Our 2012 Photo Catalog lists 300 modern and historic varieties, most of which are Tall Bearded (TB).  Another 90 varieties are available in limited quantities. In addition to an excellent selection of modern irises, we offer a unique collection of historic varieties from 30 to several hundred years old. Be sure to check out rebloomers (may bloom more than once per year), median irises (less than 27 inches tall), and particularly fragrant irises

For best selection order early by mail. We accept personal check or money order only (no credit cards).

The Smithsonian Institute, an Argyle Acres customer, planted these and other Argyle Acres irises at the Museum of American History on the mall in Washington, D.C. Joe took this beautiful picture with the Washington monument in the background.

For the past 19 years we have owned and operated Argyle Acres.  Now we are ready to really retire and hopefully hand over this labor of love to someone who will enjoy it as much as we have.

We are actively seeking a buyer for our iris business.  That includes about 50,000 plants, farming equipment, business operation software, Web site, name, and of course our good will and fine reputation.  If you have at least six acres of land, contact us at 940-464-3680.

The quality and quantity of iris bloom in the Spring depends on the amount of water (or rainfall) the irises receive approximately 8 to 10 weeks before bloom begins.  In North Texas, February moisture makes (or breaks) April bloom.  We apply granular fertilizer about six weeks before bloom and again in late Autumn.  A good memory trick is to feed your irises in North Texas near the candy holidays of Valentine’s Day and Halloween.

Thank you for spreading the word about Argyle Acres to your friends and neighbors. We are always pleased to hear from our many happy customers and appreciate your letters and e-mails (with photos) praising the quality of our irises and our Web site. We do all we can to keep our Web site easy to use and quick to display.

It is our pleasure to continue serving you and providing the best iris rhizomes available. Happy Gardening!!

Joe and Donna
