Our 2010 Photo Catalog lists over 560 modern and historic varieties, most of which are Tall Bearded (TB).  Another 250 varieties are available in limited quantities. In addition to an excellent selection of modern irises, we offer a unique collection of historic varieties - from 30 to several hundred years old. Be sure to check out rebloomers (may bloom more than once per year) and median irises (less than 27 inches tall).

For best selection each year order early by mail, by toll-free fax, or in person during Iris in Bloom (April 10-25, 2010). We accept VISA, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover Card as well as personal check, money order, or cash.

The Smithsonian Institute, an Argyle Acres customer, planted these and other Argyle Acres irises at the Museum of American History on the mall in Washington, D.C. Joe took this beautiful picture with the Washington monument in the background.

With a wet Autumn and a cold Winter, we expect 2010 bloom to be good. Irises need the seasonal cold to flower. They love cold weather, which is why we grow and test each variety for heat tolerance and growth performance.

The quality and quantity of bloom in the Spring depends on the amount of water (or rainfall) the irises receive approximately 8 to 10 weeks before bloom begins.  In North Texas, February moisture makes (or breaks) April bloom.  We apply granular fertilizer about six weeks before bloom and again in late Autumn.  A good memory trick is to feed your irises in North Texas near the candy holidays of Valentine’s Day and Halloween.

This year all orders will be shipped.  Unfortunately, shipping costs continue to increase.  We hope the extra (free) irises we provide will help offset those costs.

Thank you for spreading the word about Argyle Acres to your friends and neighbors. We are always pleased to hear from our many happy customers and appreciate your letters and e-mails (with photos) praising the quality of our irises and our Web site. We do all we can to keep our Web site easy to use and quick to display.

It is our pleasure to continue serving you and providing the best iris rhizomes available. Happy Gardening!!

Joe and Donna
