For your enjoyment....

IDA RED is one the first to bloom in our garden.  This magnificent iris was hybridized in Fort Worth.  Look at the buds yet to open.

In Greek mythology, IRIS was the goddess of the rainbow. There is no true red iris.

In Texas irises need at least half a day of sunlight.

Historic irises (over 30 years old) put on a great show in 2008.

This part of the garden gets the most sunshine.

Cold weather, plenty of precipitation in February, and even an occasional Texas snow contribute to excellent bloom.
